Saticoy is shown as a seperate railroad stop on this 1883 Rand McNally map. Saticoy was once a separate township, but Ventura's sprawl up the Santa Clara River Valley has caused Ventura to subsume all but the oldest portions of Saticoy. The district of Ventura lies at the easternmost part of the city, roughly west of Saticoy Avenue.
The name Saticoy is based on a Chumash word. (Learned from a school map Brent saw in Ojai once, probably needs a better cite.)
