Overview
Santa Paula is a city of roughly 30,000 people on the bank of the Santa Clara River, just a ten minute drive up the 126 Freeway. Santa Paula has a small-town America feel, but has an over 70% Hispanic population. Because of this, you can find a lot of Mexican food and other cultural items that you can't get in Ventura. Santa Paula is home to the Santa Paula Airport, a small airport for private aircraft. Santa Paula used to be the home of the Union Oil Company of California (Unocal 76). But even before Chevron bought them, Unocal had sold all of their property in California. The Union Oil Museum remains as a testament to this period to Ventura County's history (as well as the still producing oil wells).
