Logo ideas

Okay, I have a couple of ideas for a logo (and really no idea for a wikispottheme yet):

  1. Some kind of silhouette of the Two Trees. I need to get a better picture to work with, though.

  2. A picture of a poinsettia, as this is the Poinsettia city.

Any other gnomes with some artistic talent have ideas? —BrentLaabs

Current idea, is to make the Two Trees the main logo, and the poinsettia the tinylogo for interwiki links. I just need to develop enough talent to draw it, or get someone with actual talent to do it. —BL

Okay, I did one... any feedback? —Evan 'JabberWokky' Edwards

Yeah, looks great. I'm not good on abstract ideas (though my real life ideas can be featured on the front page anyway, we don't have an obvious welcome sign like Davis or Camarillo). Fonts: Century Gothic is good for emphasizing the roundness of the logo, though the letters need some kerning particularly around the "e". Maybe move "Wiki" over a little bit right as an attempt to get people to not run it together when they cite us, like on DavisWiki? They'll probably do it anyway, and if looks stupid, just ignore me. Logo: Reminds me of the sacred chao :) I'm trying to decide if I like the arrows being transparent or not. Still undecided. Though the arrows seem to be traveling in the reddingwrong direction, and I'm wondering if we can offset that wave π radians (mirror). It's a great concept though, and it can represent the beach or the hills or a water wave in the air. Color choice on the yellow/orange is good for the hills/beach ambiguity. Maybe the top blue should be lighter?
Also, do you like my theme choice? It was originally designed with the UC palette, but it seems beachy too!
I'll see if I can round up a second opinion. —BrentLaabs
