IndyMac Federal Bank is everyone's favorite federally seized bank. Ventura is the westernmost location of the bank, which was taken over by the federal government in July 2006. New accounts are backed by the feds directly, but they're still sorting out the larger deposits from before the bank failed to see if there's any money to give back to people.
