Ventura is known for a lot of things, but come Summer time, there is no greater place to be here then at the beach! Ventura sports a large number of beaches, which range the coast from Oxnard up towards Santa Barbara.
To access the beach, some places charge a parking fee, such as the parking lots closest to the Ventura Pier (on the south side) and the parking structure (on the north side). All beaches in Ventura are public property. All beaches in California below the high tide line are property of the state, but the entire width length of Ventura's beaches are public parks, which means there is plenty of room out there. The largest part is San Buenaventura State Beach.
Surfing occurs pretty much anywhere, but the most popular spots are Surfer's Point and Marina Park.
