The Beachfront is a neighborhood along the the beach of Ventura. The beachfront area is everywhere along the beach southwest of Sanjon Barranca, and includes the Vista del Mar, Pierpont, Ventura Keys, and Ventura Harbor areas.
One of the biggest problems to development in Ventura is the way that the Ventura Freeway divides the city in two, with the majority of the city in the northern valleys, and a thin strip of town along the beach. Santa Barbara resisted this division for years, with four stoplights along the 101 Freeway until the 1980s. As a result, the SB is still a much more united city, but getting to the beach in Ventura is choked off at a few points.
There used to be a dirt airstrip, but it was removed to make room for the Ventura Keys development.
